Pennsylvania Dutch

Often referred to as the "Pennsylvania Dutch," the Amish and the Mennonites have had to struggle to live in a simple, noncompetitive way, choosing to remain true to the values and teaching of their ancestors, and to avoid "worldly" pressures of modern day society. This anthology presents primary source documents related to the customs of the Amish and the Mennonites, their refusal to take up arms, and the education of their children.
